Experience Halcyon

The name Halcyon refers to a period of time in the past that was idyllically happy and peaceful. "the halcyon days of our youth"

Nestled between downtown Lawrence and the University of Kansas campus, the Halcyon House offers all the amenities of a modern hotel with the historic charm reminiscent of a European Inn.

When you are ready for a place to retire for the evening, the rooms at Halcyon provide a quite space for rest & relaxation, reflection and rejuvenation. Wake up refreshed and fuel your body with a lovely assortment of local, organic and thoughtfully sourced breakfast items.

We love sharing our city with guests! If your trip to Lawrence includes visiting students at KU, going to a game, shopping downtown, or conducting business at the University, this is the perfect location.

Our Rich History

Originally built in 1885 as a boarding house, Halcyon saw Pacifists, WW1, and Winnie the Poo all before being converted to Kansas’ first bed and breakfast.
